The 2nd Floor at Lyceum Hall

Your Special Occasion,
                            Our Special Location

Yesterday to Today

Once the cultural and current affairs hub north of Boston where 19th century luminaries, most notably John Quincy Adams, Henry David Thoreau, Daniel Webster, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Ralph Waldo Emerson lectured on literature, science, and government through the acclaimed Salem Lyceum Society, in historic Lyceum Hall, and where Alexander Graham Bell famously made the first public demonstration of the telephone, today the storied Hall is the thoughtfully adapted home of Turner’s Seafood at Lyceum Hall, and the recent transformation of this architectural gem’s 2nd Floor, where celebrity speakers-of-the-day performed.

A Casual Elegance

For the restoration of Lyceum Hall’s 2nd Floor, we enlisted the renowned Boston architectural firm, Neimitz Design to preserve and create a stylish blend of period and modern, a casual elegance for special functions and events…rehearsal dinners, anniversaries, business meetings and presentations, employee appreciation, baby and bridal showers, awards recognition ...celebrations to corporate.

Hosting Two Singular Spaces

Entering the 2nd Floor by the original formal staircase or newly installed elevator, a spacious foyer greets guests, leading to two special spaces, The Loft and The Ballroom.

Warmth, charm and history exudes throughout The Loft, the rich graining of restored wide board floors, a grand fireplace, exposed brick, light-filled windows reaching up to massive beams, custom chandeliers... further to the vaulted ceiling accented by skylights. Complete with a marble bar and a flight of stairs to a balcony-style space overlooking the room, the Loft accommodates 40 plus guests.

The Ballroom’s more refined, contemporary style blends period detail... exposed brick, stately fireplace, high ceilings with custom chandeliers, carpeted floors, plush curtains treatments accenting well-proportioned windows and true to its name, a section of dance floor... overall, a relaxed elegance accommodating 60 plus guests.

The Culinary Complement...

Executive Chef Yale Woodson brings the same awarding-winning New England seafood experience served in our restaurants to each private function. A menu focus can be classic to creative, skillfully combining the freshest, local seafood prepared with in-season ingredients from choice regional purveyors. Chef specializes in preparing dishes with underutilized seafood, treating dinners to new taste experiences…please inquire.

There’s more...

To ensure each function’s dining menu is served as planned, a quality dining experience, the 2nd Floor features a fully accessorized restaurant kitchen.

Two spacious, fully appointed modern rest rooms complete an exceptional special occasion environment, designed to provide a memorable experience…and yes, air-conditioning comfort.
