SHRIMP FEST 2016!

This November we are hosting the first-ever “Shrimp Fest,” a month-long celebration spotlighting a variety of shrimp species sourced from around the world. From November 1st through November 30th you can order from a special menu at our two restaurant locations in Melrose and Salem, MA. Both locations will be showcasing original Shrimp Fest menus, featuring over five rare kinds of shrimp including Hawaiian Blue Prawn from the island of Kauai, East Coast shrimp, Red Argentine shrimp and Colossal Head on Wild Sustainable Eastern Atlantic shrimp, as well as a selection of daily rotating specials. That’s not all, if you want your shrimp and to cook it too, the retail markets at both locations will be selling the same exotic species for the at-home cook to grab and go! 


OYSTER FEST 2016! 

This September we are hosting our annual “Oyster Fest,” a month-long celebration spotlighting the oyster! From September 1st, through September 30th you can order from a special menu featuring a variety of oyster-based dishes available at both the Turner’s Melrose and Turner’s Salem, MA locations! Each year we serve more than 150,000 live shucked oysters from various New England growers, all of which are individually counted and inspected on a daily basis to ensure quality and wholesomeness. 

 

In addition to these special dishes, you can also order from the featured oysters on the half shell paired with one of five different specialty sauces at each location!

CRABFEST 2016!

Beginning June 1st 2016 we’ll kick off our month-long Crabfest celebration! Throughout the entire month of June, we’ll be serving a special Crabfest menu featuring four different types of crab as well as a selection of daily rotating specials. The talented executive chefs at Turner’s will be preparing a variety of delicious dishes using Jonah crab, soft shell blue crab, king crab and snow crab, all harvested from across North America.

 Tour The Mediterranean

On Tuesday January 19th, we will partner with Jim Barnard of M.S. Walker Fine Wine & Spirits and host an intimate wine dinner that will tour the food wine and cultures of the exotic countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. Beginning at 6:30PM, you will savor unique wines selected from the top vineyards along the coast, all paired perfectly with fresh and authentic seafood dishes prepared by executive chef Yale Woodson.  
Due to the intimacy and popularity of this dinner, we are hosting an encore experience on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2016, giving all guests a chance to enjoy.  Jim Barnard will play host one more time, beginning at 6:30PM.  For more information or to make a reservation call 781.662.0700.

Wicked Tales of the Sea & Other Fishy Stories



On Tuesday, January 5th the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) is bringing together a top-notch crew of seafood experts for a lively conversation about the state of the fishing industry in New England. Billy Costa, co-host of NESN’s “Dining Playbook” will lead the lively, down-to-earth discussion between Dave Marciano, star of the National Geographic Channel’s “Wicked Tuna” and Captain of the FV Hard Merchandise, and our own Jim Turner! 

You will enjoy first-hand accounts of Marciano’s and Jim's experiences within the fishing industry, and how they deal with the ever-changing and unpredictable nature of their profession. Immediately following the discussion, you enjoy a sample of your favorite Turner's Dishes!

Tour The Vineyards of Spain




On Tuesday October 13th, at our Melrose location we are hosting intimate wine and food pairing that will tour the delicious flavors of Spain with Jim Barnard of M.S. Walker Fine Wine & Spirits. Beginning at 6:00PM, you will savor wines selected uniquely from the top vineyards in Spain, alongside fresh and authentic dishes prepared by executive chef Yale Woodson.

Inviting you for a Junewide culinary treat celebrating this deliciously popular crustacean with a special, all-things crab menu featuring the best crabs from across the country

For CrabFest ‘15 we have selected 4 different types of crab:

  • Soft Shell Crab – blue crabs from Chesapeake Bay
  • Snow Crab – from East Coast Canada
  • King Crab Crab – from Bering Sea

Chef Yale Woodson, Salem, MA and Chef Jaime Aguilar, Melrose, MA will be preparing separate crab menus & specials consisting of appetizers (Soft Shells, King Crab, Jonah Crab Salad), sandwiches (Jonah Crab Roll, Soft Shell) and entreés (King Crab, Soft Shells, Jonah Crab Pie, Local Flounder w/ Snow Crab Imperial), served at lunch & dinner. Turner's Seafood Nominated by Northshore Magazine for the 2nd Annual 5 Over 50 Award

This Northshore program will recognize five North Shore commercial institutions that have been in continuous operation for 50 years or longer. In 1954 James "Jim" F. Turner opened Turner Fisheries in Boston, in 1989 becoming J. Turner Seafood in Gloucester, followed by Turner’s Grille & Market in Melrose in '94. In 2006 Turner's Seafood Market in Gloucester opened along with Turner's Online Market to overnight, fresh seafood nationwide. In 2013 Turner's Seafood at Lyceum Hall opened in Salem and this year the Hall's renovated 2nd floor is scheduling functions & special events.

Ten companies have been nominated. Current online voting is through Sunday, June 15th to narrow to 5 winners. The top 5 will be announced in Northshore's October "Movers & Shakers" issue.

To be successful over 60 years and to continue to grow the business is an accomplishment every member of the Turner's Team has contributed to.
